Services were held for Tommy Barton on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Hilliard Funeral Home. A graveside service was held at Shady Grove Cemetery in Grand Prairie. Visitation was held on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Tommy Ray Barton was born November 6, 1946, in Dallas. He had been a resident of Ben Wheeler for almost 40 years. He owned Barton Sand & Gravel in Grand Prairie for 10 years, before moving to the country. While in Ben Wheeler, he loved to raise cattle and take care of his ranch. He owned Van Zandt County Livestock for 11 years. He never missed one of his grandkids’ sporting events or morning coffee with his friends.

Tommy passed away at the age of 75 on August 5, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Lee Barton and Mildred Elizabeth Patrick Barton; daughter, Laurie Dell Barton, and brother, Jimmy Barton.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sherry Barton of Ben Wheeler; son and daughter-in-law, Brandon & Crystal Barton of Ben Wheeler; sister, Kathy Navratil; and grandchildren, Beau; Chloe, and Brigg.

Pallbearers were Randall Preston, Mark Dickerson, Buddy Edwards, James Dickerson, Terry Bowden, Jason Spence, and Joe Bolin. Honorary pallbearers were Bill “WM” Barton, Paul Mayer, Charlie Baker, Ed Frazier, Tony Ammons, Jerry Ward, Randall Clayton, Robert Saulters, and Johnny Thomas.
