Read moreCanton ISD art students spent several days last week working on chalk murals around the square prior to the Oct. 8 Autumn Festival. On the day of the festival, attendees were able to vote on the mural they liked the best. Local business Southern Pop donated the first, second and third place prizes and also the People’s Choice prize to the students. The Pony Expresso also donated free beverages to all of the contestants the days that they came to work on their art.

After 14 years of service to the district as well as the county, Hyde will be leaving his role as Chief Appraiser to become the new Chief Financial Officer for Mabank ISD. VZC Appraisal District officials noted, “He will be tremendously missed for his honesty and integrity that he continually showed his staff, Board Members and citizens of this great community.
